🏡 FEATURE STORY

Don’t Miss the Deadline to Appeal Your Property Tax Assessment

At RISE Forward 360, one of our goals is to help residents stay informed and keep more of their hard-earned money. If you recently received your 2026 Annual Notice of Assessment from Clayton County and believe your property has been overvalued, you have the right to file an appeal.

The deadline to file your appeal is Friday, August 14, 2026. Clayton County mailed assessment notices on June 30, 2026, and property owners have 45 days from the mailing date to submit an appeal. (Clayton County, Georgia)

Who Should Consider Filing an Appeal?

You may want to file an appeal if:

  • Your property’s assessed value is higher than what you believe it would sell for today.
  • Comparable homes in your neighborhood have sold for less than your assessed value.
  • Your assessment contains incorrect information, such as the wrong square footage, number of rooms, or other property details.
  • Your home’s condition has changed due to damage or needed repairs that may affect its value.

Remember, appealing your assessment is your legal right, and filing an appeal does not guarantee your taxes will increase. It simply gives you the opportunity to have your property’s value reviewed.

How to File Your Appeal

Clayton County has made the process simple by allowing residents to file online.

File your appeal here:

Clayton County Property Tax Appeal Portal

Before submitting your appeal, gather any information that supports your case, such as recent sales of similar homes, photographs, repair estimates, or documentation showing errors in your property record.

RISE Forward 360 Is Here to Help

We believe every homeowner deserves a fair assessment. If you have questions about the appeal process or need guidance on where to start, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Our mission is to educate, empower, and connect residents with the resources they need to make informed decisions.

Working together, we can ensure our community remains informed, engaged, and protected.
